NOVEL"3".Manolin a source of moral and spiritual courage for the oldman.Manolin had been a constant source of moral and spiritual help for Santiago.When Santiago could not catch any fish for forty days,Manolin,s parents send hin to another boat.They started calling Santiago "Salao" or unlucky.Still,Manolin visited Santiago daily and served him in many different ways .When every one was against Santiago,Manolin was with him.The other fishermen made fun of the oldman and asked him retire but Manolin encouraged him.He kept his spirit high.He served him loyally.5.Santiago,s lonliness and his thoughts of Manolin: Manolin had become the centre of the oldman,s working thoughts.He often called Manolin in his imagination.When the Marlin began pulling the boat,he wished he had the boy with him.Thoughts of the boy kept him hopeful and active .
