In this poem ,the poet has presented the tragic plight of a condemned political leader in the form of a monologue.The condemned leader says that he was given a red carpet welcome a year ago .People threw flower petals on his way and thronged the roofs of the houses to welcome him.They rang bells and raised slogans to welcome him.They were ready to do anything at his call. After a year they changed their loyalties and branded him as a traitor.Peole threw stones at him as he was dragged in the streets. Despite this maltreatment , the political reader is hopeful that he will be justly rewarded by God in the other world. This poem bears a close resemblance with the political conditions of the third world.The masses in the third world are emotional and illiterate.They are enchanted by the greedy politicians .Political stability is rare in these countries.Military often takes control and democracy is derailed.

In this poem ,the poet has presented a social rebel who violates the prevailing code of conduct.He is bent on contradicting every act of the common lot.His motive is just to look prominent from others. He keeps long hair when other people keep short hair.He makes a noise in the classroom when other students sit quietly.He wears gaudy clothes when others wear serious looking clothes.He praises cats when others praise dogs.He prays for sunshine when the people are praying for rain.He accepts offers by saying yes please when others are rejecting the offers by saying no thank you. In short his behaviour is contrary to society.

In this poem,the poet has enumerated the domestic chores of a char women.He has described the life routine of an American woman but she also represents the women of all the developing countries.           The woman has to get up early in the morning.she has to look after her children,mend their clothes clean her house and purchase daily food stuff for her domestic use.she makes the children ready for school.she has to go to the fields to lend a hand to her husband in agricultural work.she has to iron the clothes of her family members.she has to cook food and serve it to her family.

The poetess has made three extraordinary resolutions in this poem.Her first resolution is to keep quiet and atone for her previous sins.She wants to remain silent to avoid sins of falsehood,hypocrisy and self praise.             Her second resolution is to look into her inner weaknesses.She will take herself by the collar and hold herself answerable for her misdeeds. Her third resolution is to face reality eye to eye.She will accept reality with all its bitterness.She knows that truth is bitter but she will derive comfort from the fact that she is living in the world of truth. She compares truth to bony arms as both are unpleasant and ugly.
