Novel: Q#2 .Discuss the relationship of Santiago and Manolin,The boy.Ans.1: Introduction:Manolin the boy is an apprentice ,friend and companion of the old man.His relationship with the oldman can be studied on several levels.There is professional,emotional and spiritual relationship between them.2.Manolin as an apprentice of the oldman:This relationship started in Manolin,s childhood.Manolin had been with Santiago when he was five years old.Santiago had taught him the art of fishing.He had shaped Manolin,s personality and character according to his own ideals.3.Manolin as a helper for the old man: Manolin helped Santiago in many different ways.He collected his fishing gear.He served the old man with food and bear.He brought bait for the oldman.He helped the oldman in repairing the boat.Only a faithful friend can do so.He treats the oldman with his utmost care.
