B.A Easy English Notes on Seletion of modern essays

Essay no 5.Nagasaki
In this essay Ichimaro has described the large scale destruction caused by nuclear weapons on August,1945.Ichimarau was a medical student but by luck he got late and returned home.Suddenly he heard a B.29 air bomber dropping an atom bomb.He and his friends hid in the toilet. He became senseless. On coming to his senses,he saw that the sky had turned black pouring down black rain. The air was full of atomic radiation. The writer could not go to his medical college in Urakami which was 500 hundred miles from the hypocentre. The people coming from Urakami were in rags.Their faces were like ghosts with vacant stares.Next day he visited the sight of destruction. There he observed that only concrete and iron buildings stood. The other buildings were burnt to ashes. There were fires everywhere..People were dying gradually. They were crying for water. Some people jumped into tubs but died there.Foam was coming out of their mouths.Black burnt bodies with edges of white bones was a horrible sight. The weak and the strong all were dying within weeks. The writer saw the destroyed fields and bald trees. There were so many dead bodies that their removal was a serious problem.
On seeing this wholesale destruction, the writer concluded,Never these nuclear weapons be used again
The moral of the essay is that the world powers should settle their disputes through peaceful talks. There is no doubt that war is a necessary evil but even if a country has to wage a war,it should be waged with traditional weapons. The world powers should stop making nuclear bombs.
The End.
