Short Story .no.3.The New Constitution.
This story has been written with reference to Govt. if India Act 1935.Ustad Mangu is a representative of the native Indians.He entertains many hopes about the New Constitution.He hopes that this Act would liberate the Indians from the slavery of the British.The Indiana would get equal human rights.They would get employment opportunities.He hoped that the British would go back to their miserable holes.
He hated the British for their inhuman and cruel treatment.His row with the gora soldier is the result of his delusion about the New Constitution and hatred against the English.He beat the gora mercilessly under the illusion that the British are no longer the raaj now.
Ustad Mangu is the mouth piece of the lower working class of India.He was illiterate but had political insight.He wanted to free the Indians from the slavery of the British.
Sa adat Hassan Manto has rightly presented the maltreatment of the British and false hopes of the common Indians.
