Short Story no.4.Breakfast.In this story,the writer has described his visit to a poor cotton pickers family.The writer has his breakfast with this family.He enjoys his breakfast and can not forget it throughout his life.
He is impressed by the simplicity ,purity,hospitality,contentment and sincerity of the poor seasonal labourers.He observes that the seasonal workers are contented,hospitable and simple people.They thank God for the temporary job and the humble breakfast.
The writer concludes that real hapiness lies in contentment.Poverty is not a curse if one is contented with one s life.The writer indirectly hints at the artificiality of the modern man his false pomp and show.Modern man is discontented and unhappy despite all the facilities of life
