3.Model Precis Writing : Tolerance is a very dull virtue .It is boring.Unlike love,it has always had a bad press .It is negative..It merely means putting up with people,being able to stand things.No one has ever written an ode to tolerance,or raised a statue to her.This is the sound state of mind which we are looking for.This is the quality which will be most needed after the war .This is the only force which will enable different races and classes and interests to settle down together to the work of re,construction .(E.M .Foster)  Q1.What is meant by tolerance?   Ans.It means to put up with people and to stand things Q2.Which quality will be most needed after the war?  Ans.Tolerance will be most needed after the war. Q3.What is the sound state of mind?  Ans. Tolerance is the sound state of mind . Q4.How will tolerance contribute to the work of reconstruction ?  Ans. 4.Model for precis writing : I will begin with the intellectual temper that is required.There must be in many a desire to know the important facts,and in most an unwillingness to give assent to pleasant illusions.There are in the world at the present day two great opposing systems of dogma: Catholicism  and Communism .If you believe either with such intensity that you are prepared to face martyrdom,you can live a happy life,and even enjoy a happy death if it comes .You can inspire converts,you can create an army ,you can stir up hatred of the opposite dogma and its adherents.(Bertrand Russell)   Q1: What type of temper is required by the writer?   Ans.The writer requires intellectual temper.   Q2.How can we acquire intellectual temper?  Ans. We can require intellectual temper when we create in  ourselves ,a desire to know the facts and unwillingness to accept pleasant illusions. Q3.How can we live a happy life and enjoy a happy death? Ans. We can live a happy life and enjoy a happy death if we have as much intensity in our belief as to face martyrdom for it.
